I’m a Royal Society Research Professor and Richardson Professor of Applied Mathematics in the School of Mathematics at the University of Manchester.

My research area is numerical analysis, focusing on numerical linear algebra. For more on my research see my website.

I also edited, and wrote about 100 pages of, The Princeton Companion to Applied Mathematics.

I use Emacs, LaTeX and MATLAB on Windows-based desktops and Mac laptops.
